Oprah Winfrey’s “AHA” Experience Coming to Las Vegas in 2027

Oprah Winfrey is taking a message she has shared for decades and presenting it in a completely different format. The media icon has announced “Oprah Winfrey’s AHA,” a two-hour live multimedia experience planned for the Las Vegas Sphere in April 2027.

The production will combine music, film, massive visuals, sound, lighting and sensory effects to create an experience focused on human connection, self-reflection and awe.

The idea connects closely with a message Winfrey has shared since her early television career. Forty years ago, when she first reached national audiences, she often spoke about shared human experiences, personal responsibility and the unique qualities within every person.

That message continued throughout the 25-season run of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and in her work across magazines, podcasts and other media.

“I said it in 4,561 shows, and I don’t even know how many magazine articles and podcasts,” Winfrey said.

How “AHA” Started

Instagram | ebonymagazine |Oprah Winfrey praised the Sphere's immersive tech, featuring 160,000 speakers, haptic seats, and realistic beach scents.

The concept for the new experience began nearly three years ago after Winfrey attended U2’s opening performance at the Sphere in September 2023. The venue’s technology made a strong impression on her.

“I was mesmerized, enthralled and excited,” she recalled.

Winfrey described the Sphere as feeling like a giant dome that also resembles a window. Its technology includes 160,000 speakers, moving seats and sensory effects designed to make the audience feel surrounded by the environment shown on screen.

She recalled seeing a beach scene and experiencing sensory effects that made it possible to smell the beach. The combination left her wondering about the possibilities of the venue.

At that moment, she experienced what she described as a “knowing feeling,” which became an Oprah-style “aha moment.”

The idea that came to her was ambitious: the Sphere could take audiences to the edge of space and help them consider their relationship with the universe, themselves and other people.

Message About Human Connection

Winfrey sees “AHA” as more than a traditional stage production. She describes it as the culmination of ideas she has communicated throughout her career.

“I feel that it is the culmination of everything I’ve tried to say for years,” Winfrey, 72, told PEOPLE.

The experience is also being shaped around a question that has become important to her: what connects people despite their differences?

“I keep hearing how divided we are. But I know there is a commonality in the human experience,” she said. “We actually all want the same things.”

She also spoke about finding common ground through shared human needs and experiences. For Winfrey, that connection is central to what the audience will encounter during the production.

The Creative Minds Behind “AHA”

Several established artists are working on “AHA.” The creative team includes Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter, along with Ethan Tobman and Baz Halpin, two creative figures associated with Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour.”

The production will make extensive use of the Sphere’s technical capabilities. Its giant LED screens, sound system and lighting effects will help present large-scale images of space and the natural world.

Winfrey said footage captured by the Hubble Space Telescope had a particularly strong effect on her.

“When I got a sneak peek at some of the ‘real universe’ footage taken from the Hubble telescope,” she said, “I laid back in my seat and I just cried.”

The performers also reflect the production’s focus on emotional connection rather than celebrity spectacle.

Grammy-winning musician Jacob Collier will perform at the event. Poet and writer Ocean Vuong will also take part. Vuong’s novel “The Emperor of Gladness” became an Oprah’s Book Club pick in 2025.

Why Audience Participation Matters

The production will not rely only on well-known performers. Winfrey has said that celebrity status is not the central attraction.

“We probably could get a few [stars] to come on and sing and perform, but it’s not about star power,” she explained. “It’s about the power of the people in the audience.”

Jacob Collier offers an example of that approach. The Grammy-winning musician often turns audiences into part of the music by using their voices as a choir and creating music during performances.

The audience also plays an active role in “AHA.” The show does more than ask people to watch. It invites them to become part of the experience.

“This will be an immersive experience that allows the audience to be a part of the production of it,” Winfrey said.

Dacher Keltner’s 2023 book, “Awe: The Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life,” also influenced the project. The book examines how awe can affect people’s emotions and well-being.

Four Shows Planned for 2027

Instagram | oprah | Oprah Winfrey will perform four shows at the Sphere from April 2–4, 2027, with the possibility of extending the run.

The initial schedule includes four performances at the Sphere. Winfrey plans to hold the shows on April 2, 3, and 4, 2027, across that weekend.

Winfrey said additional dates could follow if the initial run succeeds. Other dates have already been offered to the production. The limited schedule also reflects how carefully Winfrey now considers where to spend her time and energy.

At 72, she has spoken openly about the finite nature of time and the importance of pursuing projects that carry personal meaning.

“If you are 72... you are somewhat delusional if you don’t recognize that you have less time left here than you’ve had,” she said.

She added that no matter how technology, medicine or exercise develops, time remains limited.

“I know in my heart this is something I deeply, deeply, deeply wanted to do,” Winfrey said. “I feel that I was given a download vision... even though in the beginning nobody understood what I was talking about.”

The Meaning Behind “AHA”

“AHA” centers on a message Winfrey has shared for years. She believes people have something valuable within them. Life can sometimes make that inner strength harder to notice.

“All of us were born with a light inside and that at some point life, exhaustion, the world dims that light,” she said.

Winfrey hopes “AHA” will remind people that this inner light remains. The production combines her message with music, science, visual storytelling, and audience participation.

The experience also explores self-awareness, shared humanity, wonder, and personal growth. These themes have appeared throughout Winfrey’s career.

The Las Vegas Sphere will give the production a large multimedia setting. Music, poetry, visuals, and live performances will shape the experience.

The first shows will take place on April 2, 3, and 4, 2027. The project reflects an idea Winfrey has developed for years. It also gives her a new way to share familiar themes through sound, visuals, and audience participation.
