The actor, former California governor, and longtime fitness advocate used the occasion to highlight an initiative designed to reward consistency in exercise while continuing a birthday tradition centered on health and wellness.
Birthday Message Focuses on Fitness
Schwarzenegger shared photos on Instagram showing a workout session at what appeared to be Gold's Gym in Venice, Los Angeles. The images featured the actor performing lat pulldowns and biceps curls while announcing a special offer for his Pump Club fitness app.
He wrote, "I turn 79 today. I don't want any gifts. Instead, my team and I are turning the fitness industry upside down."
The offer allows first-time users to start with a seven-day free trial until August 9. After the trial, the annual membership costs USD 100. Users who complete four fitness programs during the year will receive a full refund of USD 100.

Schwarzenegger also explained that he personally supports the initiative. He wrote, "The Pump Club crusade is backed by me, not a private equity fund or a hedge fund."
He reflected on his long commitment to fitness with another message. "I've been trying to get people to train for six decades, and I finally found something that works. If I can make millions of you train all year, I'll take the loss."
Birthday workouts have become a familiar part of Schwarzenegger's celebrations. When he turned 78, he shared a video of himself cycling as part of his annual fitness routine.
