Why the Personal Care Industry Needs to Prioritize Perimenopause

Conversations around women’s health are shifting quickly, and perimenopause is finally moving out of the shadows. Wellness practitioner and author Sahar Hooti is at the center of that shift with her new book, The Pocket Guide to PeriMenopause.

Her guide blends long-standing healing traditions with current clinical thinking, offering women real-life ways to manage hormonal changes through Persian remedies, traditional Chinese medicine, and straightforward acupressure routines.

Hooti says the book addresses a long-overlooked gap. “We’ve treated perimenopause like something women just have to grit through. It’s actually a period of recalibration, not deterioration,” she says. Her point lands clearly: women need information, encouragement, and practical support—not quiet dismissal.

A New Approach to Hormonal Health

The Pocket Guide to PeriMenopause sets itself apart from standard wellness titles. Marketed as the first women’s health guide with built-in QR tools, it links readers to short videos demonstrating breathwork, aromatherapy, and acupressure practices. The format turns the book into an interactive toolkit—less reading alone, more learning by doing.

She believes the beauty and personal care industries must step up. “Professionals in health and beauty share a duty to start these conversations, in clinics, workplaces, and beyond,” she says. Hooti calls for a shift from sterile medical talk to empathy-driven wellness education.

From Awareness to Action

According to Hooti, the global wellness movement is already undergoing a change. More women are focusing on understanding their bodies rather than simply masking symptoms. She observes that emotional symptoms like anxiety, low confidence, and poor concentration can impact women’s lives even more deeply than physical ones.

“These experiences affect relationships, careers, and self-esteem,” she explains.

Through her work at the clinic, Hooti meets women from every kind of background—corporate leaders, nurses, teachers—yet many share the same complaint: they no longer feel in tune with themselves. Her approach blends scientific insight with mindful awareness, using acupuncture, acupressure, and aromatherapy to help women reconnect with their bodies and regain a sense of steadiness.

Encouraging Collaboration Across Industries

Hooti is calling on beauty brands and healthcare providers to work together instead of operating in separate lanes. She argues that real progress comes from focusing on prevention, not waiting until symptoms reach a breaking point. Her Press–Pulsate–Pause Method and AromaAcu Therapy combine traditional healing tools with sensory techniques to support hormonal balance and ease the nervous system.

She notes that this collaboration could redefine how wellness is perceived globally. “Education and emotional intelligence must replace silence. When industries work together, they empower women to feel supported and understood,” says Hooti.

Brands Responding to the Call

Data from Innova Market Insights shows that awareness around perimenopause is growing rapidly. In skincare, for instance, tailored solutions are emerging to help manage hormonal transitions early.

According to Dove, 43% of women over 45 in the US actively seek skincare designed for perimenopausal or menopausal needs. Responding to this demand, Dove launched its first Women’s Wellness Range, specifically crafted to support this phase of life.

This shift reflects a bigger change; women no longer want surface-level fixes. They want education, honesty, and solutions that truly respect their journey.

As Hooti’s work continues to inspire, her message remains clear: perimenopause deserves compassion and understanding, not neglect. With every new product, conversation, and guide, the beauty and wellness industries have a chance to transform how women experience this stage of life. Empathy, education, and innovation together can create a future where every woman feels supported, body, mind, and skin included.
